Kaksintaistelusta voi päätellä, että ratsu ei välttämättä tarjoa taistelijalle
mitään selvää etua ainakaan maastossa, jos vain jalkamiehen hermot
kestävät.

Kaksintaistelussa tilanne on toinen, koska siinä hevosta ei saa vahingoittaa,
mistä tuomari varoittaa kumpaakin taistelun alussa ja uudelleen Ivanhoeta
tämän pudottua hevosesta. Kuninkaan jousimiehet ovat valmiina käskystä
surmaamaan kiellon rikkojaa.
