Breivik-type psychopathology

The severity of Breivik-type psychopathology goes like this
(ICD-10; mild -> severe):

1) F60.8 Narcissistic personality disorder** (criminally sane) ->
2) F60.0 Paranoid personality disorder [fanatic] (crimanally sane) ->
3) F22.0 Delusional disorder [paranoia], grandiose type (criminally insane) ->
4) F20.0 Paranoid schizophrenia* (criminally insane)

* Main diagnosis by Torgeir Hysby & Synne Sørheimin (29.11.2011)
The "right" diagnosis (from their point of view) could be Delusional disorder [paranoia], grandiose type

**Main diagnosis(?) by Agnar Aspaas & Terje Tørrissen (12.4.2012)
The "right" diagnosis (from their point of view) could be Paranoid personality disorder [fanatic]

"D i s t a n c e s"

The distance (and the difference) between 1) and 4) is "immense".

But the distance between 2) and 3) is not necessarily very great, because the
paranoid personality disorder includes narcissistic and often also psychotic elements
and can be a precursor to the very paranoid psychosis.

"E s s e n t i a l s"

1) F60.8 Narcissistic personality disorder
In narcissistic personality disorder person's primary (healthy) narscissism is w e a k (lack of self-esteem etc.) with
strong compensatory secondary narcissism - illustrions of beeing superior, requires excessive admiration etc. - which
are core manifestations of this disorder. (The opposite would be depressive disorder.)
- Breivik has strong (compensatory and pathological) narcissistic features, but in regard of the diagnosis this category -
alone - is far too "weak" for Breivik.

2) F60.0 Paranoid personality disorder
In paranoid personality disorder person's primary narcissism is weak (like in the narcissistic personality disorder), and
he has a pervasive distrust and suspiciousnes of others. Often he reads hidden meanings, and direct paranoid ideation
may occur. But as a rule (as opposed to true paranoic) he reacts positively to reality confrontations and don't go mad.

3) F22.0 Delusional disorder, paranoia vera
In paranoia person has persistent pseudo-logically constructed non-bizarre delusions - mostly of persecution or of grandeur
(the paranoiac prophet or inventor) - (without concomitant hallucination of schizohprenia type). In other aspects personality
can be quite intact. Essential thing (as opposed to paranoid personality disorder) is that reality confrontation to idée fix
often works verifying - not falsifying - the delusion!

4) F20.0 Paranoid schizophrenia
In paranoid schizophrenia person has relatively stable non-bizarre and bizarre delusions, which may be accompanied by hallucinations,
frequently of persecution but also other forms, e.g. of jealously, exalted birth, Messianic mission etc.).

F60.2 dissocial personality disorder ("psychopathy") is, however, ruled out because of G4, "There must be evidence that
the deviation is stable and of long duration, having its onset in late childhood or adolescence".
